ABOUT JESS

Jess Fraser has dedicated every aspect of her life into the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Amongst the first of Australian females that have made Brazilian Jiu Jitsu her career, she is an outstanding BJJ athlete as well as community leader. She continues to work tirelessly on both pursuits and changes the landscape of jiu jitsu within Australia as a result.
Though she is an accomplished athlete (earning her black belt in a record 6 years) she is most well known for creating and leading the internationally recognised group, Australian Girls in Gi.

She was the 12th female in Australia to achieve the rank of black belt and is as proud of that black belt as she is of being a uniquely qualified and experienced in all things relating to women within the sport of jiu jitsu.
No other leader has personally mentored 2000+ female athletes in the sport of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which she continues to do as the focus of her life work. After a decade of proactively travelling both Australia and the world to focus on female athletes, Jess is proud to say she has trained and rolled with more female athletes than any other black belt in the world.

Jess speaks from a place of experience not only as a BJJ black belt but also as one of the few community leaders in our sport that has focused entirely on the needs and interests of the female grappling community as her entire career.

Her goal as an athlete is to continue to lead by example both as a competitor and leader. She has continued to lead and coach while also medalling at black belt World Championships in both the gi and no gi (2017). She has won medals internationally at every belt level as well as all 4 divisions at all belt levels of State, National and Pan Pacific Championships, multiple times.

Her ultimate goal in her career is to fundamentally change the course of history of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to by creating a culture of gender non-biased on every mat, in every gym throughout the world.
Jess believes that empowering women is the most pivotal change we can make to ensure improvement in their health, wellness, personal safety & life experience. She does this by setting an example to follow while also remaining accessible and available as a coach and leader.
